ECHO was founded in 1987 by the Brandon Ministerial Association as a means to provide immediate relief to individuals and families who have experienced a recent emergency. During its twenty years of operation, ECHO has assisted over 80,000 individuals.

ECHO is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization that provides food, clothing, and household items to those in need. Additionally ECHO has special programs such as backpacks, school supplies, new shoes, and holiday food baskets and toys for families. The clients served by ECHO do not pay for any items received. ECHO exists solely through the generous donations given by civic organizations, churches, corporations, and individuals.
